Host a dinner

Be a part of the movement and host a dinner!

If you want to arrange a dinner in collaboration with us – contact
chimen.castaing@kvinnohistoriska.se.

Steps

If you want to arrange your own historical dinner – this is how we did it. Please send us photos or other documentation, lists of participants and stories afterwards. Your dinner will be added to our website and archives. Good luck!

☞ Concept

You meet around a dinner table and each guest has a fixed number of minutes to share a story about a woman they think everyone should know about.

☞ Guests

Invite as many as you like and have room for – regarding both space and time. Remember, that a dinner of 39 people, talking for three minutes each, takes all night.

☞ Speeches

Set a time frame so participants know how to prepare. We recommend three minutes – it is long enough to describe a person or tell a story and short enough for everyone at the table to speak before the evening is over. For our dinner, we invited a violinist to start playing when the three minutes were up – but you could easily swap the live-musician for a suitable tune on Spotify!

☞ Documentation

Right now, historical dinners are being planned all over the world. Be a part of the movement and document your dinner and share it with us. Email your pictures, videos and/or audio from the dinner, together with a list of the dinner guests and the women they shared stories about. We also want to know when and where the dinner took place, and who organised it. Contact us at info@kvinnohistoriska.se and we will share your dinner on this website and save it in our archives.

If you want more information on how to audio record your dinner and become a part of our archive, contact: lina.thomsgard@kvinnohistoriska.se.

☞ Please spread the word by using #thehistoricaldinnerparty #thdp on social media.
